How To Remove The Door Hinges On A Samsung Fridge Freezer
To remove the hinges from the doors on a Samsung fridge freezer, you will need to remove the doors. For this you will need the following;
- Phillips Screwdriver
- Small Flat Bladed Screwdriver
- 4mm Allen key
- 10mm Spanner (or ratchet)
- 12mm Spanner
Method
Let’s start with the freezer door;
- Disconnect The Power Supply
Remove the plug from the wall socket or flip the circuit breaker to the off position to prevent accidental electrocution. - Turn Off The Water Supply
Turn the water inlet tap to the off position, this is important as you will need to disconnect the water pipes to remove the doors. - Remove The Door Furniture
Lift and remove all of the door baskets and the ice maker this makes the door easier to handle. - Disconnect The Water Pipes
Remove the plinth by unscrewing the 2 screws this gives you access to the water pipes. You need to remove the pipes from the cradle, all you need to do then is press the coupler at one end to disconnect the water pipe. Repeat this with the second water pipe as well. - Remove The Hinge Cover
With the doors closed, remove the screw holding the hinge cover and gently turn it over. - Disconnect The Hinge
You then need to remove the sensor plug by using a small flat head screwdriver and prising the connector apart. - Remove The Earth Cable
Unscrew the earth cable, and disconnect the plug. - Remove the 3 Bolts Holding The Hinge In Place
Using a 10mm spanner or ratchet, remove the three 10mm bolts. - Remove The Door
Carefully lift the door straight up taking care to not damage the lower hinge. - Remove The Lower Hinge Bracket
Undo the 3 bolts holding the bracket in place using the 10mm spanner or ratchet.
Moving onto the fridge door;
- Remove all of the door furniture
Lift and remove all of the trays etc that are attached to the door; these simply lift out. - Remove The Hinge Cover
Unscrew the screw holding the hinge cover in place, then turn the cover over and unclip the sensor. Then remove the 2 plugs using a flat headed screwdriver. - Remove the 3 Bolts Holding The Hinge In Place
Using a 10mm spanner or ratchet, remove all 3 of the 10mm bolts. Once the bolts are out, the hinge will lift away from the door. - Remove The Door
Carefully lift the door straight up taking care to not damage the lower hinge. - Remove The Lower Hinge Bracket
Remove the bottom hinge (it just lifts out) then undo the 3 bolts holding the bracket in place using the 10mm spanner or ratchet. - Replace The Hinges
You can now replace the hinges to both doors if necessary before reattaching the doors to the fridge freezer by doing the above in reverse.
Once the doors have been refitted and the hinges replaced, there’s a possibility that they will no longer be in alignment. This means you might need to adjust one or both doors in order to realign them.
To Realign The Doors Do The Following;
- Unscrew the locking nut on the lower hinge of each door.
- Then use the allen key to loosen the adjuster and adjust the height of each door accordingly.
- Once the doors are aligned correctly, tighten the locking nut to keep the alignment in the correct position.

If you own a top and bottom mount Samsung refrigerator and you want to remove the hinges in order to replace them it can be done. I recommend consulting your user manual for model specific instructions.
In the absence of any instructions, if you decide to go ahead, the tools required are;
- Philips Screwdriver
- Flat Head Screwdriver
- 8mm Spanner (or ratchet)
- 11mm Spanner (or ratchet)
Method;
- Locate and remove the hinge cover by using the flat head screwdriver to unclip the cover.
- Remove the cap door and wire cover and disconnect the wire connector.
- Remove the screws on the upper hinge.
- Carefully lift the fridge door straight up to remove it from the middle hinge.
- Remove the screws from the middle hinge using the Philips screwdriver. You will need to support the freezer door as it may fall forward once the middle hinge is removed.
- Carefully lift the freezer door straight up to remove it from the bottom hinge.
Now that you have removed the door hinges from your Samsung refrigerator, you can replace them with the new hinges. To reassemble the doors you then need to do the above in reverse order.
