The Galanz mini fridge is convenient for use in the office, bedsit, table top in fact anywhere that has the need of a refrigerator without needing to use too much space. They are incredibly popular and so useful but, like all appliances there are times when problems can occur.

How To Reset A Galanz Fridge

Resetting a Galanz fridge is a straight-forward and simple task to perform that will clear any minor glitches and get your Galanz refrigerator working properly in no time. As long as you follow our advice you shouldn’t encounter any additional problems, and once the reset is complete, your Galanz fridge should be working perfectly again.

How To Reset A Galanz Fridge – A Step By Step Guide

You will need; Somewhere cool to keep the contents of your Galanz fridge while the reset is under way.

1.  Remove the contents of your Galanz fridge
   Empty the fridge completely and place the contents somewhere cold. This is to prevent any food spoilage.
2. Set thermostat/temperature dial to “0”
   Whatever model of Galanz fridge you own, set the thermostat to “0” before removing the power supply. The temperature dial is located in different positions on different models of Galanz fridges but it shouldn’t be too hard to locate.
3. Remove the Galanz fridge from the power supply
   Either pull the plug from the wall socket or switch the circuit breaker off.
4. Allow 10 to 15 minutes to elapse
   Once the fridge has been disconnected from the power supply, it’s necessary to allow any residue power to dissipate so the system can shut down correctly.
5. Reset the thermometer/temperature dial
   After 10 to 15 minutes turn the dial on the thermometer/temperature dial from “0” to “off”. This will ensure the cooling system works correctly when you restart the unit.
6. Reconnect to the main power supply
   Once you’ve reset the temperature dial to “off” and the 15 minutes has passed, reconnect the fridge to the power supply by either plugging it back in or switching the circuit breaker on.
7. Reset the fridge to the correct running temperature
   Once the power has been reconnected, turn the temperature dial to the desired setting.
8. Wait for your fridge to reach the desired temperature
   With a mini fridge it can take around 3 to 4 hours to reach the desired temperature and on a full size model the time taken to reach the correct, set temperature can be up to 24 hours. So don’t panic if the fridge doesn’t feel as cold as it should straight away.

If you hear a slight buzzing from the motor or you can feel a slight vibration from the fridge your reset has been successful.

What To Do If Your Fridge Doesn’t Have A Temperature Dial

If your Galanz fridge doesn’t have a temperature dial, you will find the temperature control on the display panel. This will obviously need to be set to the “off” setting before you cut the power. On models with the temperature control in the display panel, you use one of two arrows to alter the temperature. The “up” button raises the temperature setting, and the “down” button lowers it.

If your Galanz fridge only has single digit labels, the Galanz user manual suggests “4” as the correct starting point. The number “4” setting is equivalent to 40F (4C) which is the recommended temperature for refrigerating food stuff for overall consumer safety.

What To Do If The Fridge Doesn’t Get Cold

If after performing the reset and waiting the full length of time recommended before the temperature should have stabilised, your fridge has not got cold at all, it’s time to contact the manufacturer. Or if it’s no longer under warranty, contact a fully qualified electrical engineer. Whoever you contact it would be helpful if you could supply them with the following details;

If it’s a mini fridge it might be easier for you to take it into one of their approved repair outlets, but they’ll advise you on all of that over the phone. Also if the warranty is still active and the fault turns out to be a mechanical defect, the repair will be free of charge. However, if you’re no longer under warranty, or the fault was caused by you, you will be expected to pay for any repair.

Is There A Reset Button On A Galanz Fridge?

There isn’t a reset button on a Galanz fridge, to reset a Galanz fridge you need to do the following. Turn the temperature control to “0”  before disconnecting the mains electrical power supply. Then leave the fridge for 10 to 15 minutes before turning the temperature dial to “off”. Then reconnect the power supply and set the temperature dial to “4”. After resetting your Galanz fridge allow 3 to 4 hours for a mini fridge and a full 24 hours for a full size fridge to reach the desired temperature.

You shouldn’t just reset the fridge as a matter of chance, your Galanz fridge should only be reset if there is a problem. For instance, if there’s a power outage or it suddenly malfunctions without any warning. These problems often arise if the fridge hasn’t been used for a long period of time. 

Be aware that a reset isn’t the answer to all Galanz fridge problems, performing a reset with no reason could actually damage your fridge. So using the reset option should only be done when absolutely necessary. Common Reasons For Galanz Fridges Not Working Correctly

Sometimes the problem is not the appliance, it’s the user. There are a number of reasons a Galanz fridge might not be working correctly, these include;

Wrong Temperature Setting

If you set the temperature of your fridge at too high a setting, the contents will not cool sufficiently. Galanz recommends a setting of “4” which is 40F (4C).

Not Closing The Fridge Door Correctly 

Not fully closing the fridge door will prevent it from reaching the desired temperature and also cause an ice buildup which could impede the cooling system of your fridge.

Insufficient Power Supply

Fridges are designed to be powered directly into the main power supply. If you run an extension cable from the power outlet to the fridge you could be preventing the fridge from operating under full power.

Keeping The Fridge In The Wrong Position

For any fridge to work correctly it needs to be put under the least amount of stress as possible. That includes positioning it away from any heat source. That could mean not positioning the fridge near a cooker, radiator, heater vent, direct sunlight or anywhere else that the fridge will be subjected to heat directly. Keep the fridge away from anywhere that is too humid (bathrooms for example).

Also, the fridge should be kept on a level surface to ensure the door doesn’t fall slightly open. You should also ensure sufficient distance between the fridge and any walls or ceilings to allow adequate ventilation.

Neglecting The Cooling System

The system that is used to cool a fridge includes the condenser, compressor and the evaporator. These components will all work at their best if they are kept in a clean and tidy state. Dust them regularly and check that the evaporator and condenser fan motors are working correctly. To test the fan motors gently spin the blades these should spin without any restriction, if not call an engineer to check them properly.
