Who Are Bosch?

Bosch is a well known company that has been around for many years. In fact, Robert Bosch GmbH (commonly known as Bosch) is a German multinational engineering and technology company which was founded in 1886 in Stuttgart by Robert Bosch.

The company now has 4 main areas of expertise which are mobility (software and hardware), industrial technology, energy and building technology and consumer goods which includes dishwashers.

The Bosch consumer goods business sector includes BSH Hausgerate GmbH spread across many brand names including;

When Was The First Bosch Dishwasher Produced?

Although the Bosch company was founded in 1886, they produced their first dishwasher in 1964 which compared to the models they produce today was quite basic. 

Bosch has always been at the forefront of technical advancement so it’s no wonder that their dishwashers are still among the most popular worldwide.

Where Are Bosch Dishwashers Made?

It might surprise you to learn that many Bosch dishwashers are made in the United States. This is because the US is where Bosch has its largest dishwasher customer base.

With that being said, some are also made in other countries, such as: Germany, Turkey, Thailand, China and other European countries. Let’s now take a look at each one of those individually:

United States

There are currently 125 factories producing Bosch dishwashers throughout the world and 21 of those are in North America. They make most of their dishwashers at the New Bern factory in North Carolina which employs more than 2000 people.

The New Bern factory is the largest dishwasher factory in the world and covers an area of 245,000 square feet.

Notable models made at this site include the Ascenta and the 100 series. As well as the 300 and 500 series.

Germany

Their plant in Neuburg Germany started producing dishwashers in 1976 and is one of their largest dishwasher factories. With 7 assembly centres and a research and development centre which was set up in 2015.

It’s at the Neuburg site that Bosch produces their top of the range models. It’s also the largest factory the company has in Europe. All of the series 8 are made in Germany which includes the 800 series, the 800 premium and the Benchmark series.

Turkey

Although Bosch started their operations in Turkey in 1972 it wasn’t until 2006 that they set up their first production line. The site in Cerkezkoy  which also houses a research and development centre makes dishwashers under the Bosch brand as well as Siemens, Balay and Gaggenau. 

Other European Bosch Dishwasher Manufacturing Sites

As well as germany and Turkey, Bosch manufactures and assembles dishwashers in other European countries including;

• Poland
• Czech Republic
• Greece
• Serbia
• Spain

Thailand

In 2001 Bosch partnered with Hitachi to establish a dishwasher manufacturing plant in Kabinburi, Thailand. The Bosch dishwashers made at this site are distributed throughout Thailand and the rest of the South Asian continent.

China

Bosch founded their first dishwasher manufacturing plant  in Chuzhou, China in 2015. This site distributes Bosch dishwashers throughout China and its neighbouring countries.

The Chinese and surrounding market was previously supplied with Bosch dishwashers made in the US and Germany.

How To Identify Where Your Bosch Dishwasher Was Made

The best way to identify where your particular Bosch dishwasher was made is to check the serial number. The first 2 letters should be enough to indicate where it was made.

For example; serial numbers starting with “CN” indicate that the appliance was manufactured in China. Whereas those starting with “DE” were manufactured in Germany.

If you’re not sure where yours was made, you can contact Bosch directly and as long as you give them the serial number, they’ll be able to tell you where it originated.
