It might surprise you to learn that many Bosch dishwashers are made in the United States. This is because the US is where Bosch has its largest dishwasher customer base.
With that being said, some are also made in other countries, such as: Germany, Turkey, Thailand, China and other European countries. Let’s now take a look at each one of those individually:
There are currently 125 factories producing Bosch dishwashers throughout the world and 21 of those are in North America. They make most of their dishwashers at the New Bern factory in North Carolina which employs more than 2000 people.
The New Bern factory is the largest dishwasher factory in the world and covers an area of 245,000 square feet.
Notable models made at this site include the Ascenta and the 100 series. As well as the 300 and 500 series.
Their plant in Neuburg Germany started producing dishwashers in 1976 and is one of their largest dishwasher factories. With 7 assembly centres and a research and development centre which was set up in 2015.
It’s at the Neuburg site that Bosch produces their top of the range models. It’s also the largest factory the company has in Europe. All of the series 8 are made in Germany which includes the 800 series, the 800 premium and the Benchmark series.
Although Bosch started their operations in Turkey in 1972 it wasn’t until 2006 that they set up their first production line. The site in Cerkezkoy which also houses a research and development centre makes dishwashers under the Bosch brand as well as Siemens, Balay and Gaggenau.

As well as germany and Turkey, Bosch manufactures and assembles dishwashers in other European countries including;

In 2001 Bosch partnered with Hitachi to establish a dishwasher manufacturing plant in Kabinburi, Thailand. The Bosch dishwashers made at this site are distributed throughout Thailand and the rest of the South Asian continent.
Bosch founded their first dishwasher manufacturing plant in Chuzhou, China in 2015. This site distributes Bosch dishwashers throughout China and its neighbouring countries.
The Chinese and surrounding market was previously supplied with Bosch dishwashers made in the US and Germany.
How To Identify Where Your Bosch Dishwasher Was Made
The best way to identify where your particular Bosch dishwasher was made is to check the serial number. The first 2 letters should be enough to indicate where it was made.
For example; serial numbers starting with “CN” indicate that the appliance was manufactured in China. Whereas those starting with “DE” were manufactured in Germany.
If you’re not sure where yours was made, you can contact Bosch directly and as long as you give them the serial number, they’ll be able to tell you where it originated.
Why Are Bosch Dishwashers So Popular?
Bosch dishwashers always come out on top when it comes to best selling dishwashers worldwide and for good reason. In fact there are several reasons why people all over the world choose Bosch dishwashers. These include;
They’re Really Good Quality
Pound for pound, Bosch dishwashers have a far higher quality than comparably priced models. In many cases, they’re better than some of their rivals’ more expensive models.
It’s no wonder really when you consider that they have been developing and improving their designs constantly since the first model they made back in 1964.
Bosch also has the largest dishwasher factory in the world with all of the technology, equipment and experienced workers that entails. You can tell the quality of a Bosch dishwasher no matter which factory from wherever in the world it was produced.
That much is also evident in their ever increasing popularity with the general public. Which is also why they are always top of the leaderboards when it comes to sales.
You Can’t Question Their Durability
Bosch dishwashers have a reputation for lasting for many years and with an average lifespan of around 10 years, it’s easy to see why. We all want value for money and Bosch dishwashers give you just that.
With their solid construction, Bosch dishwashers can withstand the rigours and wear and tear of the average household.
People Love Their Reliability Too
When you buy a dishwasher, you want it to keep on washing your dishes without any breakdowns. Bearing in mind that 2 of the largest production plants for Bosch dishwashers are in the US and Germany, which are both countries that demand high quality, reliable products.
If Bosch dishwashers weren’t reliable, they wouldn’t still be top sellers in these 2 consumer driven countries.
They’ve Give A Lot Of Versatility
Bosch dishwashers are so versatile, they can be run in hard or soft water areas. Obviously soft water is better for cleaning dishes as it means there are no stains or deposits left on the dishes.
However, with 60% of the UK and 75% of the US having hard water some dishwashers can struggle. Bosch high end dishwashers come with built in water softeners. Which means your dishes will be cleaned no matter how hard the water in your area is.
If this feature is important to you, you should choose the Bosch Ascenta, 300 series or 800 series. These models with built in water softeners will remove clouding and streaking from glasses and prevent stains caused by limescale in the water.
Plus with their adjustable racks which allow you to fit even awkwardly sized dishes, you can get all of your dishes clean in one go.
They Run Very Quiet
One of the most common complaints about dishwashers is the levels of noise created as the appliance is running. This can limit when the dishwasher can be operated. For instance, at night when you’re trying to sleep.
However, Bosch dishwashers run quietly with many being no louder than a whisper. Which means you can use your Bosch dishwasher any time of the day or night.
