Are Samsung Ecobubble Washing Machines Any Good?

When you’re looking for a new washing machine, it can be confusing. There are so many makes and models to choose from, where do you begin? We keep hearing about these Samsung Ecobubble machines so we thought we’d take a closer look.

Samsung Ecobubble Washing Machines

Washing Machine

On first glance the Samsung Ecobubble looks like any other washing machine. It’s of a comparable size, colour (white or graphite) and price as many other washing machines. But it’s what you can’t see that’s supposed to make this washing machine different. The ecobubble technology.

What Is Ecobubble?

Ecobubble is a process by which bubbles of air are used to force water and detergent through the fabric of your laundry. The manufacturers claim that this function forces the detergent into the clothes 40% faster which allows you to wash on cooler temperature settings. They also claim this function uses 70% less energy at 40 degrees.

All of which sounds extremely impressive and presumably they will be able to substantiate the figures they have quoted. The problem with this is they don’t tell you what they compared this too, so we have to ask 70% less energy than what?

What Are The Pros And Cons Of The Samsung Ecobubble Washing Machine?

Now we know what ecobubble is and what it does, let’s look at this range of washing machines more closely and find out what’s good and what’s bad about them.

Samsung Ecobubble Advantages

We found the Samsung Ecobubble washing machine to be;

  • Exceptionally quiet
  • Lightweight and yet stable
  • Have a large choice of programs
  • Have a great spin cycle
  • Smartphone connectivity for fault diagnostics

Samsung Ecobubble Disadvantages

Disadvantages are;

  • There are less expensive washing machines of a similar type available
  • The bell notifying the machine has finished is annoying (but can be turned off)

Samsung Ecobubble Features

We’ve already mentioned the ecobubble system which allows you to wash garments at lower temperatures, but what else is special about the Samsung Ecobubble washing machine?

It Won’t Make As Much Noise As Other Washers

Well, for a start, there’s their vibration reduction technology and inverted motor which makes for a quieter machine especially on spin cycles.

The App Can Find Faults Quicker Than An Engineer

Then there’s the Samsung Smart Washer app which is available in both Android and iOS and allows you to use their Smart Check. Which is an automatic monitoring program that detects problems and diagnoses them in real time on your mobile phone. This aims to give you quick and easy solutions to any problems without having to call out an engineer.

It’s Easy To Use

The machine is simple to use with easy to read and understand programs, an easy to use dial to select programs which can be fine tuned via the press button control panel which indicates all selections with a blue LED light.

The LED screen displays various icons to let you know where in the program your washing is at, along with a countdown timer.

The machine’s door is large and the opening wide to allow easy access for putting clothes in and retrieving them once the machine has finished.

It Has Lots Of Powerful Functions (Programs)

Detergent

There are plenty of functions or programs to choose from including all of the standard programs found on other washing machines as well as;

  • A hand wash cycle
    This is a particularly gentle wash cycle designed for those extra delicate items.
  • A denim cycle
    This includes an extra rinse cycle to ensure all detergent is removed.
  • A baby care cycle
    This includes an extra rinse cycle to ensure all detergent is removed.
  • A super eco wash cycle
    This is designed to save even more money.
  • An outdoor care wash cycle
    Particularly useful for washing sportswear and muddy outdoors hiking clothes etc…
  • A stain away cycle
    This wash includes a soak function, the drum stops rotating and allows the garments to soak in hot water to remove stains.
  • An eco drum clean cycle
    This is to remove any soap scum or calcium buildup which could eventually cause problems. It is recommended that the eco drum cycle is used every 40 washes.

It appears the average wash programs across the ecobubble range is 16 which include an extra rinse cycle, eco wash, cotton wash, delicate wash,  synthetics wash and a quick wash.

There is a delay timer that can be set for up to 19 hours in advance which allows you to set the machine to finish at a convenient time for you. Maybe just as you get in from work or whatever.

As Well As Many Other Features

The drum has a diamond pattern which looks as if it might be sharp, but is in fact very smooth so there’s no safety concerns there.

The ecobubble is standard for all programs but can be taken off if you don’t want to use it for whatever reason.

When the machine has finished, it plays a little tune that can be slightly annoying, but can be turned off if it becomes too annoying.

Warranty

The Samsung Ecobubble washing machine comes with a 5 years manufacturer warranty. Which should give you some peace of mind as other manufacturers only offer 1 to 2 years on some models.

Should You Buy A Samsung Ecobubble Washing Machine?

This is difficult for us to answer as everybody’s requirements are different, but if you are looking for a mid priced washing machine with plenty of extra features. You could do worse than buying a washing machine from this range. There appears to be a drum size to suit most families and ecobubbles aside, these machines appear to give some great washing options.

Coupled with the latest technical support via smartphone capability to troubleshoot any issues without the need to call out an engineer.

They claim to use less energy and cooler wash cycles, we obviously cannot substantiate these claims but we would imagine they have been independently tested or the advertising standards commission would have shut those claims down.
