How To Make Taco Shells in An Air Fryer
These taco shells are made using any brand of tortilla you prefer.
Ingredients
- Corn Tortillas
- Oil
We are now going to go through 3 different methods you can use to cook taco shells in the air fryer. Have a read through and see which one suits you best (they’re all great!)
Method #1
This method uses an air fryer stainless steel barbeque rack which can be purchased separately.

- Brush the corn tortilla with oil on both sides
- Place the tortilla on aluminium foil
- Drape the tortilla over the rack so that there is at least one bar between each edge (it’s better if there are 2 bars between each edge. The tortilla will resemble a bed sheet on a washing line
- Place the rack upside down in the air fryer basket
- Air fry for 5 minutes at 200 C (400 F)
- Remove from the air fryer carefully (the rack will be hot)
- Fill with your favourite filling
- Air fry for 3 minutes
- Serve
Method #2
- Take a large piece of aluminium foil and fold over 3 times to form a square
- Brush a tortilla with oil on both sides
- Place the tortilla in the middle of the foil square
- Pull the sides up to form a loose triangle
- Secure the top by folding the 2 corners together
- Place in the air fryer basket
- Air fry for 5 minutes at 200 C (400 F)
- Remove from the air fryer and gently unwrap the foil
- Fill the taco with your favourite filling
- Air fry for 3 minutes
- Serve

This method uses a taco holder stand

- Brush the tortilla with oil on both sides
- Place the tortilla shell over the taco holder stand
- Place the holder in the air fryer basket
- Air fry at 200 C (400 F) for 5 minutes
- Fill with your favourite topping
- Cook for 3 minutes
- Serve
Air Fryer Taco Shells Cooking Tips
- All cooking times are for guidance only because all air fryers are different
- You can use any cooking oil you prefer
- If using taco holder stands, check after 2 minutes to be sure that the taco shell hasn’t dislodged from the stand (due to the strong fan)
- You can use any brand of tortilla
- Take care when removing taco shells from the air fryer due to the extreme heat produced
Taco Filling Recipe
The easiest recipe for a taco filling is cooked minced beef topped with grated cheese. This is then air fried for 3 minutes at 200 C (400 F). Once cooked, you can add any salad etc of your choice.
You can however, use any minced meat including;
- Minced Beef
- Minced Chicken
- Minced Pork
- Minced Turkey
Cook the minced meat before filling the taco shell and then just cook for 3 minutes to reheat the meat and melt the cheese.
