Here’s a simple step by step guide on how to use an electric can opener.

  1. Power up Your Electric Can Opener
    Make sure the plug is in and the power is switched on.
  2. Get the can opener ready
    Press or lift the lever to release the blade and clamp arrangement
  3. Position The Can
    Place the can into the can opener making sure that the can is flush against the back of the can opener.
  4. Line Up The Cutter
    Be sure to check that the blade and the wheel are in the correct position for opening the can.
  5.  Fasten The Can
    When you are certain the can is in the correct position, move the cutter head to clamp the can in the right position.
  6. Operate the Can Opener
    Depending on the model you are operating, either, push down on the cutter head, or push the button to start the can opener rotating.
  7. Steady The Can
    As the can rotates, carefully hold it with a light grip to ensure no spillage occurs. Some models do not need to be held, check your manufacturer’s handbook for more details.
  8. Lid Removal
    Once the can has finished rotating, the lid will be attached to a magnet, carefully remove the lid (avoid cutting your hand on the sharp edges of the lid).
  9. Taking The Can
    Once the lid has been disposed of safely in the recycle bin, remove the can from the opener. Be careful not to spill the contents.
  10. Empty The Can
    Pour the contents of the can into a saucepan/bowl and enjoy. Remember to recycle the can when emptied.
